6/07/2006: Shinjuku, Anime, Manga, and... Aladdin?

     Today we explored the Tokyo Opera Plaza and more of Shinjuku. We went to Tokyu Hands, one of the biggest department store chains in Tokyo. They have pretty much everything you need for your home, crafting, design, and the office. Everything is carefully organized by activity and sub-genre of that activity (I.E. painting, sculpting, sewing, stamp art). It was certainly much larger and cooler than Michaels back home!

     After exploring Shinjuku - going to some bookstores and shopping anime and manga - we went to the Arabian Rock  theme restaurant. It looked like everything had stepped right out of Disney's Aladdin.  Carol told them it was my birthday and they gave me a cute little cake with sparklers on it and my name written on it in English, which was very sweet of them to make for me!
